Description: The database of liens filed with the Connecticut Secretary of State is found on the state open data portal. The database only contains active liens as of May 9, 2022.
Each record is a single lien filed with the Business Services Division of the Office of the Secretary of the State. Most liens are filed under the Uniform Commercial Code, but the source dataset also contains vessel and aircraft liens, and liens filed by the IRS and the state Department of Labor. The full data files contain relevant original columns. New columns with normalized data are used for searches. Data processing was done using open-source software and is documented on the Accountability Project GitHub repository.
